The discovery was made in the Agrotechnical School "Dr. Rodolfo Moran", located in the Huaco district, while works were being carried out on the grounds of the educational establishment.

According to the museum staff, the jar was in a good state of preservation and is believed to be between 650 to 900 years old.

Inside the jar were the remains of small child between 5 and 11 years of age at the time of burial. The body was placed in the foetal position or seated in the jar.

Next to the jar the archaeologists found a nativity cup and a small bowl (puco), presumably left as 'gifts' for the infant.

The finds were taken to the museum for further analysis.
