Workmen replacing power cables along the Via Giorgio Rizzo, one of the main access roads to the centre of Milazzo, a town of Messina in Sicily, stumbled on four ancient Greek burials, about 40 centimetres below the level of the road surface.

Archaeologists and the staff of the Superintendence immediately intervened to recover the human remains that came to light.
Two were found at the intersection with Via San Giovanni, the others near a printing house.
